The Savage Arms 12 BTCSS centerfire bolt-action 4+1 capacity rifles package 26” barrels with .223 Remington (1 in 9” twist ratio), 22-250 REM (1 in 12”) and .204 RUGER (1 in 12”) calibers. The rugged laminated walnut satin-finished stock has a thumbhole stock and ported forend, etc. The stock looks great with superb contours and wood grain. The cheek is raised, and the butt is slightly concave and backed by a medium black buttpad. Length of pull is 13.5” while overall length is 46.25”, and weight is 10 pounds.
The Savage Arms 12 series is its Varminter lineup. All feature 46.25” overall lengths, precision-rifled 26” barrels and short actions, and then they vary! The different models include the 12 BVSS, 12 FCV, 12 Varminter Low Profile, 12 BTCSS, and 12 Long Range Precision Varminter (LRPV).
The BVSS has a detachable 4-round magazine and is right hand only. It famously uses the AccuTrigger Savage incorporates in many products for good reason. The two-stage AccuTrigger is predictable, clean and crisp. It’s easily user-adjustable across a pull pressure range of 2.5 to 6.0 pounds and prevents rifles from discharging when jarred or dropped.
The button-rifled free-floating heavy barrel is 26” of stellar, fluted, stainless-steel with a natural matte finish. The receiver also has a matte finish to its natural stainless steel that serves as a visual integration to the matching barrel. You can also configure the bolt and ejection port for left-hand use. Ergonomics are excellent and include things like an oversized bolt handle.
The gun includes a floating bolthead, permitting a more perfect lockup with the barrel and zero-tolerance headspace control that threads the barrel perfectly to the receiver and recoil lug with the tightest tolerances trueing the contact surfaces for optimal accuracy.
The gun has a pair of front swivel studs and a rear one too. Having three permits affixing a bipod along with a strap.
