Please read the MailFrontier field guide to Phishing: http://www.mailfrontier.com/fieldguide Also watch the following flash movie from the FTC about phishing: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/ecards/phishing/index.html You may have received an email that appears to have been sent from our web site. These fraudulent emails may even appear to be from an @GunBroker.com email address, and may even include official-looking GunBroker.com privacy statements, our logo, and/or parts of our User Agreement. The fraudulent email may contain a form to enter your username and password, verify your credit card information, or it may contain web links and ask you to click on the links. The email may submit the login and password that you entered in the email form to an unknown person, then it will redirect you to our correct login form on our web site. The email may also state that you have a limited time to respond, and that your account will be suspended if you do not use the email form. This type of email is commonly referred to as a Phish, and it is a scam. DO NOT enter your username and password, credit card, or bank information into the email form. It is possible that the emails sent out had the subject: GunBroker Account Verification These emails are sent by a fraudulent third party and are not sent from our company, even though the email may appear to come from our web site. Because of the way Internet Email works, it is very easy to send emails with a fake return email address of any web site, and these emails do not originate or pass through our computer systems so we are not able to prevent them. We send out emails containing links, but all links should begin with http or https and look like: http://www.gunbroker.com/ there should never be any long string of numbers (ie. 111.234.113.81) or % signs in the URL. After clicking a link in an email you must verify that the Web Address URL shown on the web page in your web browser is still the same as it should be.We will never ask you for your password, social security, bank, credit card or other information via email. In the event of a billing problem we will only ask you to confirm the last 4 digits of a credit card number. We will never ask you to call a telephone number.
If you received and entered any information in a fraudulent email like this, please change your account password using the following link: If you are unable to login to GunBoker.com please send an email to support@gunbroker.com and we will reset your password. If you logged into our website and the address bar in your web browser begin with http://www.gunbroker.com then you were on our website and your actions were secure, however if you used the email form then your login information was sent to an unknown person and your password should be changed. |
